Jesus death was not a sacrifice.
That's what some people say nowadays to invalidate Jesus death.
God is a God of order. He reigns with righteousness (Psalm 5:8, Isaiah 33:5) and He has a law (John 14:15, Psalm 119:33-35).
When a human law is broken there is a "payment" to make, either by going to jail, doing community service etc. When God's law is broken there's also a "payment" to make. It is the just thing to do.
'...sin is the transgression of the law' (1 John 3:4) and 'the wages of sin is death' (Romans 6:23). When Adam and Eve broke God's Holy Law (Romans 7:12), they sinned, condemning themselves and their generations to die.
Couldn't God make it so they wouldn't have to die? Why are the wages of sin death?
The problem here is not God. The problem is sin. When they sinned they stopped being perfect1 and imperfect people can't have perfect babies, that's why we all have (inherit2) sinful natures.
Perfect + sinless = ete
